I want to slow cellular aging. Coenzyme Q10 is a high potency antioxidant and a key nutrient for preventing free
radical action and slowing aging processes.
Antioxidants prevent or slow cellular “oxidation”, the action of destructive free radicals. Similar to the action of rust on metal, oxidation in the body weakens and destroys cells. Our bodies produce CoQ10 but our levels of CoQ10 begin to decline between the ages of 20 and 40. Many medical experts suggest that age-related health problems are caused or worsened by declining CoQ10 levels. The CoQ10 product line from webber naturals® offers high quality supplements for cellular health and
cardio support. Coenzyme Q10 can be used to support cellular energy production, antioxidant
capacity and as support for a healthy heart, nerves and muscles. Depending on your state of health,
age and lifestyle factors, you may require different amounts of CoQ10. • Age 20 to 40 (30–60 mg). Consider 30 to 60 mg per day to help compensate for natural age-related decline in CoQ10 levels. • Age 40+ (60–100+ mg). Consider 60 mg per day or more to support antioxidant protection and
to increase energy for good health. • Statin medication users. (100–400 mg).
Are you taking cholesterol lowering medications? … see right panel • Anticoagulant medication users. If you are using blood thinning medications, discuss with your physician as CoQ10 may increase the blood-thinning action of such drugs. Important information for Statin medication users. Statin drugs (also called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors) have been shown to deplete the body’s stores of CoQ10, even beyond age-related declines. Clinical trials have shown that patients being treated for elevated cholesterol with statin medications are actually at increased risk for cardiovascular problems, such as heart failure.
This is because statin drugs not only block production of cholesterol, they also block CoQ10 production—and CoQ10 is needed for a healthy heart. Myalgia (muscle pain) and liver damage have also been reported following statin drug use. Those on statin medications should consult their physician. They may benefit from supplementing with 100 to 400 mg of CoQ10 per day. There is no known negative interaction, in fact supplemental CoQ10 may reverse statin drug-induced myalgia and heart muscle weakness. Supplemental CoQ10 has not been shown to reduce statins’ cholesterol-lowering properties or
to have any adverse reaction related to statin use.
